ReliaTrust possesses extensive experience with the implementation of ATM and Gigabit backbones. When designing the network, ReliaTrust will work closely with the client to establish a Quality of Services (QoS) for traffic traversing the network backbone. ReliaTrust uses this QoS to configure ATM switches to tag identified packets as higher priority than other packets on the backbone. Similarly, ReliaTrust can identify and implement the router and virtual LAN configurations required to implement this design. For Gigabit networks, ReliaTrust can identify the most effective router protocol and then implement that protocol to ensure rapid transmission of data to all principal network nodes.
Once designed, ReliaTrust can manage the actual cutover of the buildings/principal subnets to the new network. We have managed the IP address changes process, including meeting with the user community to inform them of the pending changes and to address specific concerns. We have ensured that principal Information Transfer Node (ITN) is connected to at least two other principal nodes. The configuration supports dynamic routing which creates alternate backbone paths in case of ITM service disruption of service at any ITN. Should a catastrophe occur, the base network would continue to function in the areas not directly affected by casualties?
